Meshtastic has added a new device role: ROUTER_LATE. This role is designed for complex mesh networks where timing and routing priority matter.
When to use ROUTER_LATE in Oklahoma:
- On relay nodes that should only rebroadcast if no other router handles the message first
- For backup relay paths — it waits before rebroadcasting to avoid collisions
- On nodes in areas with overlapping coverage from multiple routers
If you’re running infrastructure nodes for the Oklahoma mesh, consider whether ROUTER_LATE makes sense for any of your nodes, especially in areas with dense coverage overlap.
